Helping the electronics industry reap the benefits of Silicon-on-Insulator technology
Shrinking semiconductor feature sizes demonstrate that CMOS on bulk silicon is rapidly reaching its technological limits for many applications. Process complexity, variability, short-channel effects, leakage, power density, and reliability are just a few reasons why technology leaders transition to SOI.
To help IC designers and design managers evaluate and prepare for the move to SOI, the SOI Design Clinic provides a technical understanding of the significant differences between designing on SOI versus bulk silicon, and how to realize the benefits of SOI. Respected experts from the semiconductor industry and academia deliver a practical circuit design clinic, with emphasis on the major advantages of SOI and lessons learned from the transition from bulk silicon to SOI.
